I am a SAHM to 2 beautiful girls ages 1 and 4. One week before Allyson's 1st birthday we found out I was pregnant! At my 7 week apt we found out I had a blighted ovum, and therefore no baby. I miscarried naturally 2 days later :( 6 weeks later we found out I was pregnant again! This time there was a baby, but by 9 weeks there was still not heartbeat, and I was starting to miscarry. I had a D & C done the next day. 8 months later (after taking off some much needed time) and the 2nd cycle ttc we got pregnant w/ Natalie! We ended up having a c-section w/ her b/c she was breech. The week before her 1st b-day we found out I was pregnant again! I was very nervous and cautious the whole time! I just had a bad feeling something was gonna go wrong. On June 2nd, 2008...it did go wrong! Our quad screen came up at a 1 in 5 chance of an NTD. I prepared myself for dealing w/ a child w/ spina bifida. They June 3rd we went for our u/s and found out our 3rd baby girl had Acrania w/ an open spinal column...she would have no chance of survival outside of the womb...not even a 1% chance....that was the day a HBC was made, and I will forever be changed.
